An Oilers Musing: Animal Scents for a Cut, Making After- Sun Oil, Thieves Hand Sanitizer, Organizing my Oils and off to Vaca!

Hello Friends,
This weekend we are going to be gone at our church's family camp! Thus lot's of DIY's this week.:) So enjoy!

Monday: I cut the top of my foot on Sunday so when we got home from church  I immediately put some Animal Scents Ointment on it and within minutes it took the pain away and started the healing process. The ointment is really amazing, have you tried it yet?
I am defiantly going to include this in my essential oil stash for this weekend.:)

Tuesday: We are getting prepared for our camping trip this weekend so I made some after- sun oil. You can find the recipe here.

Wednesday: I made some Thieves hand sanitizes, not only for camp but also just to have on hand. You can find the recipe here.
Easy thieves hand sanitizer

Thursday: I organized all of my oils!!! I put them on a excel spread sheet in alphabetical order and placed these labels from Young Living in my order for this month. Hopefully they will stay organized longer then last time.:)

Friday: We are off to the mountains, so happy holiday weekend everyone!

I will fill you in about our adventures with oils whilst camping and any "oil life saving" stories when we have returned.

Happy oiling,
~Hannah

Thieves Hand Sanitizer

Once again another DIY recipe! This was really simple and easy to make and I am kinda liking it.:)

Easy Homemade Hand Sanitizer
Easy thieves hand sanitizer
~Distilled water: 1 1/2 cup
~ Young Living V-6, Jojoba oil, Almond oil or Evening Primrose (optional – but you’ll be glad you included it you can):  3/4 - 1 cup
~15 drops of a Young Living Essential Oil. I chose Thieves!
~ one minute

Let me know if you try this recipe and if so how you like it.
Have a great rest of your week!
~Hannah

After- Sun Oil

Happy Wednesday Friends,
I don't normally post in the middle of the week, but as I was preparing to mix up a batch of this oil mixture for our weekend camping trip I thought it would be worth posting.

After- Sun Oil

Lavender: 10 drops
Roman Chamomile: 5 drops
Purification: 8 drops
Geranium: 2 drops

Dilute in...
Almond or V-6 oil : 1/4 cup

Directions: Apply all over the body after showering or bathing.

This has been an invaluable recipe to have on hand. We use it a lot. It is for those that have forgotten sunscreen or did not reapply it in time. But either way it is a soothing and refreshing oil to put on after a long day in the sun!

Enjoy and Happy Oiling,
~Hannah

Easy Essential Oil Bug Spray

As I mentioned in a post sometime ago my   brother went on an all day hike a couple weeks ago. I was so thrilled to have the opportunity  to try a new bug spray recipe and have him test it out!
He said it worked so good that they didn't have one bug encounter their whole hike.:) Or maybe it was just because it wasn't bug season there?!
Anyway the mixture smells divine and it seemed to stay on the skin for a good while. I will be able to try it better at our church's upcoming Family Camp.
I looked for a while for a good and easy bug spray online and decided this was the best one. Mainly because it didn't call for Vodka (which we didn't have, and I didn't want to buy it just for bug spray.:)) and it used  a lot of essential oils which some other recipes didn't, also I love the clean feeling of witch hazel on skin!
Let me know if you all try it.
Do you have a favorite bug spray mixture using essential oils?

Easy Bug Spray
12 drops Purification
8 drops Peppermint
6 drops Lavender
4 drops Thieves
1/2 ounce witch hazel (optional – gives it staying power)
Filtered water

4 oz glass or stainless steel spray bottle
Put the essential oil drops in first, then add the witch hazel if you choose and fill with filtered water. Shake well, spray liberally and feel good about the fact you are not covering yourself in toxic chemicals.
Enjoy!
Happy oiling,
~Hannah

An Oilers Musing: Animal Scents Ointment, Ortho Sport Massage Oil, Diffusing Joy for Pilates, Making Thieves Toothpaste (again) and Relieve It with Aromaglides!

Happy Saturday!!!
I hope you all had a wonderful week. I can't believe summer is almost over! How was your summer?

This week was quite adventurous .....

Monday: Our cat got in a fight or something with another cat and came home with his leg covered in blood and a big cut.  So after accessing it I got out Young Living Animal Scents and applied the salve to his wound. By Tuesday the wound was almost gone and looked very much healed! Yeaaaaaa! If you have not tried YL Animal Scents it is great stuff. Not only is it great for your animals but also for ruff and craked heels.  That is what I originally bought it for and it worked amazing with that as well. So once again a win, win!!!

Tuesday: I got to use the Ortho Sport Massage oil for myself and my brother.  I had a really bad headache and my brother legs have been bothering him as well. So we both doesed ourselves in the massage oil.:)

Wednesday: I brought my diffuser to our Pilates class and diffused Joy. Our Pilates teacher loved the smell of it. I was so happy as I am in love with Joy as of late! It was so wonderful to be inhaling it well doing the class.

Thursday: I made our favorite toothpaste with  Thieves Essential oil you can find the recipe here. Our family loves it! Let me know if you try it.

Friday: My Mom got home from her Pilates class and said she felt like she pulled a muscle in her back.): Sadly we were out of Peppermint (very unusual), so I got out our Relieve It that I had previously attached some roll-ons that you can find here. I have found these very handy as some oils I like placing the roll-ons on the bottles to created a more relaxing massage sensations. Have you tried YL's aromaglides yet?

Have you had a good week experiencing essential oils?

What oil saved you family life's this week? I love hearing "oil life saving" stories.:)

Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!

Happy oiling,

~Hannah

My Essential Reward order is here!!!!!

Soon I will post about how I liked my new Young Living products.

Have you tried any new Young Living products as of late?

Happy oiling,

What was in my Essential Reward order this month!

Happy Tuesday Everyone,
As I was pondering on what to write about today, I considered the idea of posting what we purchase monthly through our Essential Reward order, and then post a review of the items when we have tried them later! What do you all think? Well here is the very first post of "What was in our ER order?"

Purification: We use this oil a lot, mostly for diffusing and to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes. When diffused, it helps to purify and cleanse the air from environmental impurities including  smoke and other disagreeable odors, such as paint and/ or toxic cleaners. This is defiantly a staple in the Heyne Home.:)

Essential Beauty Serum: I have been wanting to purchase this item for a while and I finally was able to. I can't wait to try it. I have naturally oily and dry skin and have always struggled with acne, and on its description it says it was good for all three, so I am really excited to see how my skin likes it.:)
Young Living's serums offer the skin care benefits of pure essential oils to protect, strengthen, and improve the appearance of the skin. Each serum also utilizes a proprietary blend of skin-nourishing carrier oils such as coconut, avocado, jojoba, rosehip seed, and wolfberry seed for ease in application and absorption and to protect the skin without over drying or clogging pores.

A stronger version of Ortho Ease, Ortho Sport Massage Oil is designed for both professional and amateur athletes, as well as anyone who works or plays hard. Ortho Sport Massage Oil has a higher phenol content, which has been used traditionally to produce a warming sensation and provide relief to tired muscles. I have been wanting to order YL's massage oil forever and I finally decided to!! My brother is going on a 14+ mile hike this weekend and I thought it would probablybe nice to have this waiting at home for him.:)

The improved Thieves Household Cleaner has increased cleansing power and an even safer, more sustainable formulation. We love this cleaner and use it a LOT. Need I say more? Find out more about this incredible cleaner Here.

Lemon has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. It is delightfully refreshing in water and may be beneficial for the skin. Lemon may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods. Lemon essential oil is cold-pressed from the rinds of lemons. Jean Valnet MD estimated that it takes 3,000 lemons to produce one kilo of oil. I am in love with Lemon, it is a great inexpensive oil to always have on hand. Read more about my experience with it Here.

PanAway was created by Gary Young following a severe injury to the ligaments in his leg. Containing wintergreen essential oil, which is often used for massage, PanAway is soothing to the skin while providing comforting warmth to muscles after exercise. After Peppermint this is my favorite oil for headaches, injury's, strained muscles etc.

Melaleuca alternifolia is highly regarded for its wide range of uses. It supports the immune system and is beneficial for the skin. Commonly known as Tea Tree Oil. We use this oil a lot in our sunscreen oil mixture, bug repellent and so much more.

Lavender is a fresh, sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma that is soothing and refreshing. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it. Lavender is an adaptogen, and therefore can assist the body when adapting to stress or imbalances. It is a great aid for relaxing and winding down before bedtime, yet has balancing properties that can also boost stamina and energy. Therapeutic-grade lavender is highly regarded for skin and beauty. It may be used to soothe and cleanse common cuts, bruises, and skin irritations as well as insect bites. The French scientist René Gattefossé was among the first to discover these properties when he was severely burned in a laboratory explosion. Lavender may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods. Need I add anymore to this great and thorough description?

Sharing essential oils has just become simpler with Young Living’s 10-count sample packs. With Peppermint’s energizing menthol aroma that cleans, freshens, and uplifts any area now at your fingertips, these 0.25-ml samples will send any prospect off with a memorable impression of Young Living and the benefits of 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils. These little sample packets have been my new found oil love and a life saver.:) It is hard to carry 4-6 15ml bottle in your purse ( because you want to make sure you always have the oil that is needed at that moment), it is nice to have tiny little packets that can satisfy a need without filling up your bag!

I purposely went up to 190pv so I could get the free oils this month. I don't do it every month, I defiantly pick and chose, but I thought it would be worth it this month. Check out the promotion Here, that I will be receiving in the mail soon along with all my other oils!!!! I am super excited. I pity the UPS guy who will be delivering my package.:)

As always I hope this post inspires and encourages you to order and try new products from YL. What did you order or are going to order from Young Living  this month that you are excited about?

Happy oiling,
~Hannah

An Oiler's Musings: Thieves Household Cleaner, Diffusing Joy, Peppermint for a Headache and Leg Pain, Hydrating with Lemon Water!

Hello Everyone!
Every other Saturday I plan on posting my weekly experience with Young Living's Essential Oils! I hope to encourage you to use your oils daily and regularly.
So here is my first weekly " An Oiler's Musings" post!! Let me know your thoughts and what you think of this blog series.

Monday: Our cat threw up on our carpet that we had just recently cleaned.:) So I immediately got our awesome Thieves Household cleaner, and got on Pinterst to look up how to properly proportion the cleaner and water for carpet use. I did 1/2 capful of the cleaner in 3 cups of water. I poured a little bit of it in the 3 trouble spots and then placed a clean towel over the spot and stepped on it a couple times. Within a minute the spot was completely dry and it looked like it had never been soiled! Also the odor was gone!! Then I was able to use the rest of the mixture to mop the kitchen floor.:) Win, win!!! Gotta love that cleaner.:) Thank you Young Living!

Tuesday: Just love the smell of Joy! It is now my favorite oil to diffuse. Consider ordering it next month in your Essential Reward order, you won't be disappointed, trust me.:)

Wednesday and Thursday: My brother Luke's legs were bothering him  (and of course he didn't tell me.:)) So Wednesday night I smelled Peppermint as I was heading to my bedroom. I asked him what he was doing and he explained his situation, it gave me great delight to know that he had already started with oils!
Thursday: I had a terrible headache; after walking into a home that was burning some awful stuff, so when I got home I rubbed some peppermint on my forehead and neck and it gave me relief!
We use our Peppermint a lot. I order it almost every month through our Essential Reward order. We love PEPPERMINT!!! How do you use your Peppermint? Does it get a lot of use in your household?

Friday: I love drinking water; and adding a delicious citrus oil is even more inviting. Plus it helps keep a balanced weight and can aid in cravings and portion management!

I hope this post spurs you on to using your oils on a more regular basis.
This by all means is not everything I used oil wise for this week, but this was all I could remember off the top of my head.:) Have you discovered a new YL product that you have fallen in love with this week? How often do you use your oils?

Have a blessed weekend!
~Hannah
